Carola Rackete is an ecologist, activist and merchant mariner. She has spent eight seasons in the Antarctic, working for the German and British polar research institute and Greenpeace, and is now focussed on environmental justice campaigns. She successfully campaigned against the Davis airport project in Antarctica with Bob Brown Foundation. Carola holds a master's degree in nature conservation and is based in Europe. While looking for new approaches to guarantee the long term protection of the Antarctic and its wildlife, she became the main instigator of this initiative for a Declaration.
