Member Elizabeth Macpherson

Dr Elizabeth Macpherson is an Associate Professor in Environmental and Natural Resources Law at the University of Canterbury. Her research interests are in comparative environmental and natural resources law, human rights and Indigenous rights in post-colonial contexts, with a particular focus on freshwater and marine ecosystems. She has published widely including the award-winning book Indigenous Water Rights in Law and Regulation: Lessons from Comparative Experience (2019, Cambridge University Press). She currently co-leads the Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge project funded by the New Zealand Government on Law and Policy for Ecosystem-Based Marine Management; and Riverine Rights: Exploring the Currents and Consequences of Legal Innovations on the Rights of Rivers.
